Want to winter proof yourself?

-Vitamin D is essential in terms of your winter survival kit. Low levels can not only lead to aches and pains and fatigue in the winter months, but it can also make you much more susceptible to cold and flu. It’s important to know your levels, and tailor your supplements according to your needs.

-Vaccination

  • Flu Vaccine

The Department of Heath has advised flu vaccinations for all patients 65 and over, pregnant women, those of specific age groups with underlying health conditions eg Diabetes or Asthma. All patients with impaired immune systems eg Cancer patients should also be vaccinated. Anyone in these risk groups is most likely to develop serious complications of flu. Carers of patients in the at risk groups should also consider vaccination.

  • Pneumonia Vaccine

This vaccination prevents against serious and potentially fatal pneumonia infections. It is advised in all patients over the age of 65 and patients under this age with long term health problems. Unlike the flu vaccine you normally only require one injection for life long protection.

  • Shingles Vaccine

The risk of Shingles infection increases with age. Anyone who has had the infection will know that it can be incredibly debilitating and painful, with pain lingering long after the rash has subsided. We are pleased to inform you that we can now offer Zostavax vaccine which provides protection against this infection in patients over the age of 60.

  • Pre University Vaccinations

Many universities will advise that students undergo specific vaccinations before they enrol. These include Meningitis ACWY, Hepatitis and MMR. If you have any queries with regards to your requirements or your immunity to these infections don’t hesitate to ask.

Worried about something that has cropped up over the summer?

Whether it’s a mole an ache or any type of holiday ill health we are happy to see and advise.

Sometimes all you need is a bit of reassurance, but equally we are also well placed to investigate and refer any concerning symptoms. Embarrassment often prevents patients from coming to the doctor. Rest assured Dr Pixie and Dr Sera have seen and heard it all before so no subject is off limits.

This is particularity true for patients who might require sexual health screening. Here at the clinic we offer a same day” test and treat” service which is fully confidential and offers extensive VIP level sexual health screening. Both of our doctors have vast experience in this field and ensure all testing and results are handled in a discrete and professional manner.
